I had the exact same problem on a wood sided house. I applied an epoxy into the hole which was somewhat close to the color of the siding, birds didn't like it but they were never able to peck through it :). So I would suggest the same. Best option we have would be our E100V Vertical Wall Epoxy which is available in small 1 quart kits in 6 colors if you need a small amount. https://exteriorcoatings.com/product/...
